Wondering if a tongue or lip tie could be behind your child's feeding, speech, or sleep struggles? This quick 2-minute check helps you spot the common signs. After you submit, a member of our Walnut Creek team reviews your answers and follows up by email — it's a starting point, not a diagnosis.
Tongue and lip ties can be easy to miss, and the signs often change with age:
In babies:
- Painful nursing, shallow latch, or clicking sounds while feeding
- Difficulty bottle-feeding
- Slow weight gain, reflux, or frequent gassiness and fussiness
In toddlers and older children:
Delayed or unclear speech (trouble with l, r, t, d, th, s sounds)
Difficulty chewing or a preference for soft foods
Mouth breathing or an open-mouth resting posture
A gap between the upper front teeth
Recognizing several of these is a good reason to have your child evaluated.
Once you complete the check, a member of our team reviews your answers and emails you a summary of what your child's symptoms may suggest. If an evaluation would help, we'll invite you to book a consultation — no pressure, no obligation.
At Tooth + Tongue in Walnut Creek, tongue and lip ties are released gently with a CO2 laser — and because our practice is led by a dentist-anesthesiologist, even anxious or very young children can be treated safely and comfortably.
